Supporting social entrepreneurship through I-SEA

I-SEA (Instellar & IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator) is a collaborative accelerator programme designed to support social enterprises in Indonesia as they strengthen their business models, develop their organisations and scale their social impact.

Co-created by Instellar and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, with support from IKEA Indonesia, the programme is part of a broader approach to accelerating social entrepreneurship by supporting businesses that are already creating positive change and helping them reach more people.

The partnership began in 2022 with the first cohort, supporting 10 social enterprises. A second cohort followed in 2024–2025, supporting another 10 enterprises, while the third cohort ran from 2025–2026 with a further 10 social enterprises. Across the four-year partnership, the programme aims to support 30 social enterprises in Indonesia.

In its third cohort, I-SEA focused on three core areas:

The selected social enterprises received support through business capacity building, mentoring, networking and access to potential funding opportunities to strengthen their businesses and expand their social impact.

Emergency Relief and Recovery Support for Floods and Landslides in Sumatra

When communities are affected by disasters, everyday life can be disrupted in many ways. IKEA Indonesia supports communities during these challenging times by providing practical assistance that can help people meet basic needs and begin rebuilding their everyday lives.

In December 2025, IKEA Indonesia provided household products worth IDR 216 million to communities affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. In collaboration with HIPPINDO, the support focused on essential household needs, including products to support better sleep, hygiene and everyday living during the recovery period.

In July 2026, the support was complemented by Matching Donations, an initiative of Inter IKEA Systems B.V. (IISBV), the owner of the IKEA concept and franchise system worldwide. The initiative provided an additional IDR 400 million in support to extend assistance to communities affected by the disaster.

Through the Matching Donations support, IKEA Indonesia distributed mattresses, pillows, blankets, mats, tableware and storage boxes, together with food supplies and medicines, helping families meet essential needs as they continued to rebuild their everyday lives.
