Swim, surf, sleep, repeat!

Some love the city, they prefer the sea. Meet the young couple living a lightweight life closer to nature, where the adrenalin is high and the rent is low. Their pint-sized first place together is all about function (and fun!), with flexible essentials that will follow wherever life takes them.

Your kitchen is awesome! Was it hard to plan?

“Not at all. We didn’t want to spend a lot of time and money, so we picked out a ready-made kitchen combo online and built it from the box. It’s great that we can add to it whenever we want, or take it with us to our next place.”

Let’s be honest: everyone could do with more kitchen storage. This add-on shelving unit is easy to pack up and move, and modify for their next home.

The usual order of events in this kitchen: chop, cook, eat, wash and go. Easy!

Want to cut down on plastic disposables? Of course you do. Packing your own snacks and meals to-go can really make a difference.

Any tips for making the most of a small space?

“Break rules. Be flexible. Mix things up. Our dining and living area was inspired by camper vans. Combining the sofa and dining table not only saves space, but also feels really comfy and casual. We love hanging out here, and so do our friends.”

A few extra visitors? No problemo. These stackable stools also make great side tables.

Room divider now, whatever later. For freedom and flexibility, trust an IVAR combination to do the job.

“It’s our first place, so we made it our goal to not have much stuff. If we don’t absolutely need or love it, we don’t own it. Simple.”

One lesson you’ve learnt while living here?

“That a good life doesn’t have to be complicated. We don’t have much, but we have everything we need to be happy: the big outdoors as our backyard, and a comfy bed to come home to. What more could we ask for?”

With no space for side tables, this couple turned the space behind their headboard into a clever Plan B.

Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Others say it’s the yummiest. Agreed, either way.

Because, when you live in practically two pairs of jeans, who needs a super-sized wardrobe anyway?

For a life on the move, what does “home” mean to you?

“It’s having a space, no matter how small, to call your own. A place you can return to. To recharge and refresh. Even if it’s just a quick shower before we head out again!”
