Aceh Tamiang, July 13, 2026 – Six months after severe flooding struck Aceh Tamiang, IKEA Indonesia, through its Matching Donations program, has provided assistance to 364 families in Kampung Rantau Bintang, Bandar Pusaka District, covering every household in the village. The number of beneficiaries increased from the initial target of 100 families after IKEA Indonesia coordinated with the village government and assessed the community's ongoing recovery needs.

The floods that occurred six months ago had a significant impact on the lives of the people in Kampung Rantau Bintang. Although the emergency response phase has ended, many families continue to face challenges in repairing their homes and resuming their daily lives.

“At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. For us, this also means understanding the challenges communities face in different situations, including rebuilding their everyday lives after a disaster. Through the Matching Donations program, we aim to provide meaningful support so families in Kampung Rantau Bintang can continue their recovery journey according to their most pressing needs,” said Rimaditya Prameswari, Sustainability Lead at IKEA Indonesia.

Through the Matching Donations program, IKEA Indonesia and Inter IKEA are focusing their support on the recovery phase in Kampung Rantau Bintang after the emergency response period ended. Matching Donations is an initiative by Inter IKEA Systems B.V. (IISBV), the owner of the IKEA concept and worldwide IKEA franchise, to provide additional donations that complement the assistance previously distributed by IKEA Indonesia in December 2025, allowing support to reach more disaster-affected communities.

In Kampung Rantau Bintang, 249 households suffered severe damage to their homes, while five households were still living in temporary evacuation tents. These conditions were among the key considerations that led IKEA Indonesia to expand the assistance from the initial target of 100 families to 364 families, benefiting approximately 1,205 people.

In July 2026, IKEA Indonesia distributed IKEA products including mattresses, pillows, blankets, mats, diningware, and storage boxes. The support also included food supplies and medicines for the residents of Kampung Rantau Bintang. Distribution was carried out together with the Head of Kampung Rantau Bintang Village and local residents to ensure the assistance reached families most in need.

Access to the village was one of the main challenges during the distribution process. It took approximately two hours to travel from the main road in Aceh Tamiang Regency to Kampung Rantau Bintang due to difficult road conditions and the village's location within a palm oil plantation area. Through close coordination with the village government and the local community, all assistance was successfully delivered and distributed as planned.

Through the collaboration between IKEA Indonesia, Inter IKEA, the village government, and the people of Kampung Rantau Bintang, this support is expected to help affected families continue their recovery process and return to their daily activities.
